Ukrainian drone strikes in southern Russia caused damage to energy facilities and several residential structures, according to officials on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, across the country, numerous unmanned aircraft were reported shot down overnight.
In the Krasnodar region in the south, officials reported that two individuals sustained injuries in an assault on the port city of Tuapse, where drones targeted a dock and an oil refinery. The strikes also resulted in damage to several apartment complexes and a private residence. A fire that ignited at the oil refinery was quickly extinguished, officials noted.
In the Belgorod region in the southwest, authorities reported drone attacks in various locations, with three people injured close to the border with Ukraine. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated that nearly twenty homes suffered damage from the aerial assaults.
Some reports indicated that a fuel storage facility in the central Rybinsk region caught fire due to a drone strike, but this information has yet to be officially verified.
Additionally, in the Moscow region, air defense units reportedly destroyed 21 drones, as stated by Governor Andrei Vorobyov. One injury was reported in the village of Pagubino, which he shared via a message on Telegram.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it intercepted 86 Ukrainian drones nationwide and over the Black Sea between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Several airports imposed temporary flight restrictions due to the drone activity.
In Ukraine, officials announced that Russia conducted a significant drone attack on the port city of Odesa overnight, resulting in damage to residential areas and leaving some sections of the city without electricity, water, and heating amid freezing temperatures.
