The wife of two-time Olympic figure skating champion **Evgeni Plushenko**, producer and co-owner of the “Plushenko Angels” academy **[Yana Rudkovskaya](#)**, shared updates on the health of their son Alexander, who was taken to the hospital after a recent ice show in St. Petersburg celebrating Plushenko’s birthday.

It was reported that Alexander had a fever on the day before the performance, but the decision was made not to remove him from the list of participants.

“Unfortunately, on my father’s birthday, Alexander fell ill. His temperature rose at night, and in the morning, we tried to reduce it — he felt a bit better. Despite the fever, he performed. Alexander has the leading role in the show, and he is the soloist as the prince — there was no one else who could step in; nobody else could manage that role. It was a significant part, and it would have been challenging to assign it to another performer at the last minute.

There was an option for the choreographer to take over the prince’s role, but Alexander declined the offer. He and Evgeni made the decision to go on with his performance. We noticed that he was getting worse. He is currently at the hotel being monitored. My mother, who is a doctor, is with him. I was with him earlier, and I’m heading back now. The doctors said there are no signs that hospitalization is needed. He has been given strong medications, and we are keeping an eye on him. We were supposed to leave for Moscow in the evening, but now we are staying in St. Petersburg. Given the circumstances, it’s not advisable to travel, so I think we will remain here for another day,” Rudkovskaya told *Sport-Express*.
