The 72nd-ranked Filipino tennis player, **[Alexandra Eala](https://www.wtatennis.com/players/43812/alexandra-eala)**, has advanced to the second round of the WTA 1000 clay tournament in Madrid, Spain. In her opening match, she secured a victory against Bulgaria’s **Viktoriya Tomova**, who is ranked 64th, with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

The match lasted for 1 hour and 17 minutes. During this time, Eala hit one ace, committed one double fault, and converted six out of nine break points. Tomova did not manage to hit any aces, and she recorded three double faults while converting three of her eight break points.

In the second round, the 19-year-old Eala will face Polish player Iga Swiatek, against whom she leads their head-to-head meetings 1-0. It’s worth noting that in March, Eala achieved a stunning upset against Swiatek in the quarterfinals of the Miami tournament in the United States.
