The tournament is set to commence on October 30 and conclude on November 27, featuring a total of 206 chess players.

Among the Russian participants will be Jan Nepomniachtchi, Ivan Zemlyansky, Sergey Lobanov, Vladislav Artemiev, Andrey Esipenko, Daniil Dubov, Yevgeny Naer, and Arseniy Nesterov.

The most recent Chess World Cup took place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in 2023, where Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen claimed the title. Russian players who have emerged victorious in past tournaments include Pyotr Svidler (2011), Vladimir Kramnik (2013), and Sergey Karjakin (2015).
