Two-Time Olympic Champion Douglas Contemplates Retirement Post-2028 Games

Two-time Olympic champion of 2024 and 17-time world champion, American swimmer **[Kate Douglass](link)**, has announced that she will consider retiring after the 2028 Olympic Games.

“I faced a challenging training period for the Paris Olympics, fully dedicating myself and making many sacrifices. I stepped away from normal life for a while, and right after Paris, I started to reflect on how long I want this to go on. I don’t want to keep my life on pause, being trapped in sports like I’m in a cage. This isn’t how I envisioned my life.

However, having a home Olympics is a dream for many athletes, and few get the opportunity to achieve it. I’ve been fortunate, so over the next three years, I aim to be the best version of myself to perform at my highest level in Los Angeles. The only question is how much energy—both mental and physical—it will take. It’s possible that I might not want to swim anymore, so after the 2028 Games, I will think about my future,” Douglass shared in an interview with correspondent Rustam Imamov from “Championship”.
