A man who fell unconscious at the end of a half marathon has passed away, according to the event’s organizers.

Kory Russell was competing in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in central London on Sunday when he became ill in Hyde Park.

The organizers reported that Mr. Russell received immediate medical assistance at the scene before being transported to the hospital by ambulance. The exact cause of death is not yet known.

A statement on the race’s website conveyed their “deep sorrow” regarding this incident.

Organizers remarked: “Everyone involved in the Royal Parks Half Marathon wishes to extend their heartfelt condolences to Kory’s family and friends.

“In respect of the family’s wishes, they have requested privacy, and no further information will be shared.”

The cause of Mr. Russell’s death will be determined later through a post-mortem examination, the organizers have confirmed.
