Three Years Later, Family Pleads for Justice in Notting Hill Carnival Stabbing of Father-to-Be

Detectives are seeking assistance from the public three years after the tragic death of a father-to-be at the Notting Hill Carnival.

Takayo Nembhard was fatally stabbed on August 29, 2022, beneath the Westway flyover in Ladbroke Grove, in the midst of a crowd of several hundred individuals.

The 21-year-old, who had traveled from Bristol with his friends and sister to attend the festivities, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital as a result of a stab wound to his right groin.

In the aftermath of his death, law enforcement apprehended several suspects; however, no formal charges have been filed. The Metropolitan Police is urging any witnesses to “step forward… so that justice can be served for Takayo and his family.”

Detective Inspector Richard Kempshall, the deputy lead investigator on the matter, remarked: “Takayo was a gifted rapper who, like many others, came to the Notting Hill Carnival to revel in the celebration.

“A senseless act of violence has left his children without a father. Given the time and location of the attack, it’s highly probable that numerous individuals saw what transpired before, during, or after the incident.

“If you were one of those witnesses, we encourage you to come forward. There is still time to achieve justice for Takayo and his family.”

His parents, Sandra and Vincent Nembhard, expressed their grief, stating that their son has left behind a devastated family and two “wonderful boys.”

“We want them to grow up knowing that someone has been held accountable for his murder,” they said.

“We do not hold the Carnival responsible for our son’s death; rather, it was the actions of a very small group. However, if you have any details regarding what took place that day three years ago, please come forward.”
