Semak Reflects on Zenits Missed Championship Opportunity

The head coach of Saint Petersburg’s Zenit, **[Sergei Semak](https://www.championat.com/tags/582-sergej-semak/)**, commented on the match of the 30th round of the Russian championship against Akhmat, which ended with a score of 3:0. In a concurrent match, Krasnodar defeated Moscow’s Dynamo by the same scoreline.

“I want to express my gratitude to the fans for the wonderful atmosphere. We played well and secured a victory, but it wasn’t enough to win the championship. Everyone is disappointed, but we need to move on. That’s how sports work.

It’s full of ups and downs, successes, and failures. This has been a long season with a tough finish. I feel a sense of emptiness from the race we had at the end of the season and disappointment that we couldn’t clinch the title,” Semak’s words were relayed by Championship correspondent Dmitry Zimin.

Krasnodar emerged as the champion of Russia for the 2024/2025 season, accumulating 67 points over 30 matches. Zenit from Saint Petersburg finished second with 66 points, while Moscow’s CSKA came in third with 59. This marks Krasnodar’s first-ever championship title in Russian history. As a result of the season’s outcome, Orenburg and Voronezh’s Fakel were relegated from the Russian Premier League.
