The IIHF reports that a doping test conducted on Igor Grigorenko, the general director of HC Sochi, revealed the presence of six banned substances. The positive test dates back to 2015, during his time as an athlete. Consequently, the International Ice Hockey Federation has suspended Grigorenko from any hockey-related activities for a period of four years.

According to a statement on the official IIHF website, an investigation by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) found evidence of several prohibited substances in the sample provided, including methenolone, oxandrolone, trenbolone, meldonium, cathine, and pseudoephedrine. These substances are classified as “anabolic agents and stimulants” on WADA’s list of banned substances.

Earlier, KHL president Alexey Morozov announced that Grigorenko intends to appeal the decision regarding his suspension.
