New Regulations Allow Russians to Filter Calls from Legal Entities Starting September 1st

Starting September 1, Russians will have the ability to limit incoming telemarketing calls, allowing only calls from specified organizations. This information was reported by Kommersant, referencing a law aimed at protecting citizens from scammers.

The legislation mandates that calls made by legal entities and individual entrepreneurs be marked accordingly. This means that telecommunications operators in Russia, from whose networks these calls are made, will be required to provide details about the caller, which will be displayed on the recipients’ smartphones.

When receiving a call, the phone screen will show the caller’s number along with the name of the company or individual entrepreneur, their business designation, and the type of call. This could include categories such as “Bank,” “Advertising,” “Real Estate,” or “Telecommunication Services.” Users will be able to configure their incoming call settings through a personal account on their mobile operator’s website.
