Met Police Officer Faces Multiple Rape Charges, Court Appearance Scheduled

A Metropolitan Police officer has been brought before the court facing four counts of rape.

57-year-old PC Robert Wing, hailing from Waltham Forest in north-east London, is additionally charged with two counts of sexual assault by penetration, as well as one charge of sexual assault. These allegations stem from incidents that reportedly occurred between 2011 and 2016.

Attached to the Specialist Operations unit, the officer made a brief appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he confirmed his name, age, and address, but did not enter a plea.

He was taken into custody on 1 March 2023 on suspicion of rape and has since been suspended from the Metropolitan Police. Scotland Yard indicated that the Directorate of Professional Standards was notified.

PC Wing has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 24 September.
