Londons Inspirational Schools Shine as Finalists for Global Education Awards

Two “exemplary” academies based in London have been selected as finalists for the prestigious World’s Best School Prizes, which honor educational institutions globally for making a positive impact.

Rivers Academy West London, a public secondary school located in Feltham, is among the top 10 contenders in the Supporting Healthy Lives category, while One Degree Academy, a government-funded nursery and primary school in Enfield, has been nominated in the Overcoming Adversity category.

The winners of these awards, which are coordinated by the educational platform T4 Education, will be revealed this autumn.

Joanne McCartney, London’s deputy mayor for children and families, remarked, “Both schools exemplify the transformative power of education within our city.”

Vikas Pota, founder of T4 Education and the World’s Best School Prizes, stated that young people are confronted with “an increasingly uncertain future” due to the advancements in artificial intelligence and the mounting challenges posed by climate change.

“Providing a quality education, centered around human values, is more crucial than ever,” he emphasized.

“It is institutions like Rivers Academy West London and One Degree Academy that embody the innovations and knowledge which inspire hope for a brighter future.

“Educators and schools worldwide have much to gain from the remarkable practices of these London establishments.”

The World’s Best School Prizes consist of five distinct categories:

The selection of winners will be conducted by a judging panel, and all 50 shortlisted schools from the five categories will also partake in a public voting process that commenced on Wednesday to identify the recipient of the Community Choice Award.

The winners will be announced in October, and both winners and finalists will be invited to the World Schools Summit in the United Arab Emirates in November.
