A 59-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 42-year-old woman in Brixton, located in south London.

Authorities were alerted by the London Ambulance Service around 5:00 PM GMT on Monday after receiving reports of a man wielding a knife in a residential building at McCormick House in Tulse Hill.

Police officers utilized a Taser to apprehend the suspect, who faces allegations of murder, grievous bodily harm, and making threats to kill, according to the Metropolitan Police. He is currently being held in custody.

Inside the residence, authorities discovered a woman deceased with multiple stab wounds. Her family has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers.

Chief Superintendent Emma Bond remarked, “This is an extremely shocking incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has tragically lost her life.

“We understand this is particularly unsettling for those living nearby. Residents can anticipate an increased police presence in the following days and are encouraged to approach officers if they have any worries.”
