A man and a woman have been taken into custody following the fatal assault of a man in a south London street.

The 67-year-old victim was hospitalized on August 24 after being attacked around 3:40 PM BST on Balham High Road, according to the Metropolitan Police.

He passed away in the hospital on Friday, and his family is receiving support from specialized officers.

The authorities have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of murder and a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Denby remarked, “This is a deeply tragic case where a 67-year-old man has lost his life after a serious assault stemming from a street altercation. We are actively pursuing what has now become a murder investigation.”

Both suspects remain in custody for further questioning, as reported by the police.

Det Ch Insp Denby further stated, “Were you present in the vicinity or on Balham High Road on Sunday, August 24? If so, we urgently request your assistance.”

He also urged anyone with video recordings from that area to contact the police at 101 and reference CAD 4647/24Aug.
