A man has been detained on allegations of fatal driving offenses following the death of a cyclist in a collision in south-east London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Authorities received reports of the incident on Old Kent Road around 06:55 GMT on Friday, where a vehicle struck the cyclist near the intersection with Dunton Road.
The 34-year-old cyclist, who received emergency care from paramedics of the London Ambulance Service, succumbed to his injuries at the location.
The driver, a 68-year-old man, initially fled the scene but was located shortly after and subsequently taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police. He has been released on bail while investigations continue.
