In the third round of the competition in Madrid, Spain, Bublik triumphed over the world’s eighth-ranked player, Russian **Andrey Rublev**, with a score of 6-4, 0-6, 6-4.

Prior to his victory against Rublev, Bublik had suffered seven defeats in as many matches against players from the top ten. It’s noteworthy that Rublev was the reigning champion of the Madrid tournament.
