Akinfeev Reflects on Advice to His 18-Year-Old Self: Stay True to Yourself

The 39-year-old goalkeeper of CSKA Moscow, **[Igor Akinfeev](https://www.example.com)**, shared advice he would give to his 18-year-old self.

“Stay true to yourself; it’s pointless to wish for a life without injuries. Be honest, genuine, and open with everyone, just as you are, without pretending. Nothing is more irritating in life than deceit,” Akinfeev said in an interview on Alexander Sokolovsky’s YouTube channel.

Akinfeev has been part of the senior team for the red-and-blue club since 2003. Over this time, he has played 797 matches across all competitions, achieving 332 clean sheets. His current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2026. According to Transfermarkt, the market value of the player is estimated at €1 million.

He is the first Russian player to win the UEFA Cup.
