After Beating Sinner, Bublik Ponders: Am I Ready to Compete at the Top Level?

The 30th-ranked tennis player from Kazakhstan, **[Aleksandr Bublik](https://www.example.com)**, shared his thoughts on whether he sees himself as a top player following his victory over the world number one, the Italian **Jannik Sinner**, in the second round of the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, Germany.

**”Okay, he is the world number one. You defeated him. Do you not feel that you can play at that level consistently?”**
**“Play at the level of the world’s top player? If I felt that after beating Sinner I could play like a world number one, then it would mean I should probably check into a clinic. It’s just ridiculous. Tennis is a marathon, not a sprint. A player who performs at the top 10 level for just one year and then retires isn’t a true top 10 player, in my view.”**

**”So, do you think he wasn’t in form?”**
**“That’s not what I said. I believe one match cannot represent the overall picture. Yes, in that particular match, I managed to play excellent tennis and took advantage of the opportunities presented to me. Will I be able to do that next week? I can’t say. Based on statistics, it’s likely I won’t. But beating someone once? Of course, that’s possible. Even Federer lost to some unexpected players, as did Nadal and many other greats. However, the essence of tennis lies in consistency and the ability to replicate your results,”** Bublik explained in an interview on the **First & Red YouTube channel**.
