A drone strike attributed to Ukraine resulted in the deaths of two women in a border village located in the Belgorod region of southwestern Russia, officials reported on Monday morning.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, stated that the incident occurred in Golovichino, a village situated approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from the northeastern border with Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.

According to Gladkov, one of the victims succumbed to her injuries before paramedics arrived, while the other passed away after being transported to a nearby medical facility.

The governor also mentioned that three additional individuals suffered injuries as a result of the drone attack, which also destroyed a vehicle.

In a separate statement, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that it successfully intercepted and eliminated six Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod region from Sunday night to Monday morning.

Furthermore, Gladkov indicated that a local man who was injured in a Ukrainian drone attack in April had died from his wounds while in the hospital.
