Tuprin: Sasha Zdelars Transfer is One of Zenits Biggest Flops in Recent Years

The former president of Zenit, **Leonid Tufrin**, commented on the departure of midfielder **Sasha Zdelar** from the club. The Serbian player, who joined the Saint Petersburg team from CSKA in February 2025, has left the club as a free agent.

“Sasha Zdelar has been one of the most disappointing transfers for Zenit in recent years. He was hardly utilized at all, not even in the Russian Cup. The decision to acquire him from CSKA was made in a last-minute rush during the winter transfer window. It was not a very well-considered move, as he is not a first-team player.

Perhaps Sasha will be a better fit for other teams, but he isn’t suitable for Zenit. Thus, the club made the right choice by terminating his contract and allowing him to seek new opportunities—he will definitely find a new position. Zenit made a timely and appropriate decision,” Tufrin stated in an interview with Championship correspondent Vladislav Kruglov.

According to media reports, the blue-white-blue club paid CSKA €1.3 million for the defensive midfielder’s transfer. Overall, Zdelar made 10 appearances for Zenit and recorded one assist.
