Chervichenko Declares the End of Zenits Era of Unchallenged Dominance in Russian Football

The former president of Moscow’s Spartak, **[Andrey Chervichenko](link)**, stated that the era of complete dominance by Zenit in Russian football has come to an end.

“The age of unchallenged supremacy by Zenit is over in our football. While the St. Petersburg team will certainly still be contenders for the title, they are no longer the team that wins everything everywhere. Competition is increasing significantly. The fact that Zenit ended their centennial year empty-handed is a positive sign. There are clubs in our football capable of competing against all odds.

As a former leader of Spartak, I take satisfaction in knowing that Zenit will not surpass the number of consecutive championships won by the red-and-whites. It’s a small matter, but it brings me some joy,” Chervichenko remarked in an interview with Championship correspondent Vladislav Kruglov.

On Saturday, May 24, Krasnodar emphatically defeated Moscow’s Dynamo 3-0 in the 30th round of the 2024/2025 Russian Premier League season, securing the championship for Murad Musaev’s team in the battle against Zenit, which finished the season in second place.
