A 48-year-old man has been arrested on murder charges after a deceased individual was discovered at a property in south London on New Year’s Day.
Police were called to Bondway in Lambeth around 8:00 PM GMT on Thursday, where they found the body of 41-year-old Kaleem Shaik inside the residence, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Daniel Levy, who resides on Bondway, Lambeth, has been accused of murdering Shaik and is set to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday.
The police confirmed that the family of Mr. Shaik, an Indian citizen with relatives in India, has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who is overseeing the investigation, stated: “Our condolences are with Kaleem’s family during this challenging time.
“My team is not actively looking for any further suspects related to this heartbreaking case.
“We recognize the anxiety this situation may provoke within the local community, and residents can expect to see an increase in police presence in the coming days.”
