Vikhlyantseva Reflects on Medvedevs Wimbledon Exit: Hopeful After Halle, Disappointed by Early Loss

Russian tennis player Natalia Vikhljanceva shared her thoughts on the early exit of Russia’s ninth-ranked player, Daniil Medvedev, at Wimbledon 2025. Medvedev was defeated by Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi with a score of 6:7 (2:7), 6:3, 6:7 (3:6), 2:6.

“Unfortunately, Daniil Medvedev lost his match. We could see that he was feeling nervous. It’s surprising, especially since he played steadily during his matches in Halle. Even when facing a challenge, he addressed it calmly. Sure, he might drop a set, but that didn’t affect his composure.

It seemed like the final in Halle gave us hope for a strong performance from Medvedev at Wimbledon, but it didn’t turn out that way. Daniil wasn’t able to defend his semifinal spot from last year. It’s disheartening to see this outcome, especially considering he had one of the easier brackets among the Russian players,” Vikhljanceva told ‘Championat’ correspondent Vladislav Kruglov.
