Ukrainian Drones Target Russian Petrochemical Plant in Remote Bashkortostan

Ukrainian drones targeted an industrial facility in Bashkortostan, a republic in Russia, located far from the conflict zone, as reported by regional leader Radiy Khabirov on Tuesday.

Khabirov indicated that drones struck a petrochemical plant in Sterlitamak after being intercepted by air defense systems. The resulting debris led to an explosion and caused partial roof collapse at the facility, according to local authorities in Sterlitamak.

Sterlitamak is approximately 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) away from the Ukrainian border.

Initial reports suggest that five individuals were present at the site during the attack, but no injuries have been reported. Emergency services were dispatched to manage the situation.

In another incident, Alexander Khinshtein, the governor of Russia’s Kursk region, stated that Ukrainian forces targeted a power substation in Belaya, located in the Belovsky district.

Khinshtein noted that seven communities in the area experienced power outages, but the electricity supply was restored through a backup system.

He also mentioned that engineers were making advancements in repairing the substation in Rylsk, which had been hit by Ukrainian attacks on Monday.

Russia has maintained a relentless campaign of drone and missile strikes, particularly against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, as its extensive invasion of the country continues.

In response, Ukraine has increasingly conducted strikes on Russian oil refineries and other energy facilities.
