Ukrainian drone attacks on a market in the occupied town of Oleshky, located in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine, resulted in the deaths of seven individuals on Thursday, according to an official installed by Moscow.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces executed a significant strike using FPV drones targeting civilians,” stated Vladimir Saldo, the Kremlin-appointed leader of the partially occupied Kherson area. “At least seven fatalities have been reported, with over 20 individuals injured.”
Saldo shared an image that seemingly depicts a body nestled between two buildings, one of which sustained damage. He also posted a video showing smoke billowing from the market following the drone attack, asserting it was intended to “eliminate any survivors.”
Oleshky is situated near the left bank of the Dnipro River, where Russian troops have been stationed since they first took control of the region in early 2022.
There has been no immediate response from Ukrainian authorities, and Russia’s Defense Ministry has yet to comment on the drone attacks.
In another incident, a nighttime airstrike by Russia resulted in at least two fatalities and left 15 others injured in a residential area of Odesa, as reported by Ukrainian emergency services early Thursday.
These attacks occurred just a day after the United States and Ukraine finalized a minerals agreement that the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump characterized as a new form of support for Kyiv.
