Tragic Discovery: CEO of Kaliningrad Fertilizer Company Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances

On Monday, police investigators in the Kaliningrad region of Russia uncovered the decapitated remains of Alexei Sinitsyn, the CEO of a local fertilizer firm.

A source from law enforcement mentioned to the Vedomosti business newspaper that Sinitsyn is suspected to have taken his own life.

Officials informed state news agencies that his body was discovered with a towing cable attached beneath a bridge on the outskirts of Kaliningrad. They are currently working to determine the details surrounding his death.

The 43-year-old Sinitsyn led K-Potash Service, which has been exploring the Nivensky-1 potassium-magnesium deposit in Kaliningrad since 2014. The initial aim was to commence the project in 2021, but the timeline has since been postponed until 2032.

Former Governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, who is now the Minister of Industry and Trade for Russia, previously promoted the Nivensky-1 project as a means of positioning the region as a global frontrunner in chlorine-free fertilizers.

Corporate documents referenced by the investigative agency Agentstvo reveal that K-Potash Service is wholly owned by the Dutch-registered company Vyrex B.V.

As of now, the authorities have not released any public statements regarding Sinitsyn’s passing.
