Lawyer **Vladimir Sarukhakov** addressed the question regarding the possibility of extraditing Russian basketball player **Daniil Kasatkin** to the United States. The athlete was previously detained in France, reportedly at the request of the U.S. authorities. He is suspected of involvement in a hacking group, which he denies.
“Can France extradite Daniil to the U.S.? He was apprehended on June 21. If there were significant issues raised by the U.S., it would be clear. However, the situation is proceeding as usual. They haven’t even sent the complete set of documents required for preparing his extradition. We are prepared to escalate this matter to the Constitutional Court of France. Is he being prepared for a potential exchange?
We do not see any signs of that. We have not seen all the documents. Kasatkin is referred to not as a criminal, but as someone who participated in negotiations. However, the individual only lived in the U.S. for two years, and one needs to have a high level of language proficiency to conduct any negotiations,” Sarukhakov said, as reported by “Match TV.”
