Street Performer in St. Petersburg Sentenced Again for Anti-Putin Song Amid Ongoing Repression

A Russian court has sentenced 18-year-old street performer Diana Loginova to an additional 13 days in jail this month for her popular renditions of anti-Kremlin songs.

Loginova, who is the lead vocalist of the band Stoptime, was initially detained in mid-October along with her two bandmates on charges of orchestrating an unauthorized public event. The trio recently completed their previous administrative sentences earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Loginova was slapped with a fine of 30,000 rubles (approximately $375) for supposedly “discrediting” the Russian military by singing an anti-war track composed by an artist labeled a “foreign agent.”

Following the court’s decision on Tuesday, she was taken in a non-descript civilian vehicle to a police station, where she faced new administrative accusations for organizing an unauthorized gathering and minor hooliganism.

On Wednesday, a court in St. Petersburg convicted her of both charges and imposed a 13-day sentence for each, as reported by the news outlet RusNews.

The sentences will be served concurrently, meaning Loginova will only be held for 13 days rather than 26.

Her fellow band members, guitarist Alexander Orlov and drummer Vladislav Leontyev, have also encountered multiple detentions. Orlov received a 13-day jail sentence on Tuesday, while Leontyev was handed 15 days for unrelated administrative offenses.

Loginova, known by her stage name Naoko, shared on Stoptime’s Telegram channel that she and Orlov are planning to marry after he proposed in a police vehicle.

She is facing a second discrediting charge due to another anti-war performance, which could potentially result in criminal prosecution and several years in prison.

Her mother, Irina Loginova, spoke to local media, stating that her daughter intends to continue performing once she is released. “This is her life,” she affirmed.
