Second Teenager Faces Attempted Murder Charges in Gants Hill Restaurant Arson Incident

A second 16-year-old male has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a suspected arson incident at an east London restaurant.

The fire broke out at Indian Aroma on Woodford Avenue in Gants Hill around 9 PM BST on August 22, resulting in injuries to six individuals, including three men and three women. According to the Metropolitan Police, two of the injured parties remain hospitalized with significant, life-altering injuries.

The teenager is set to appear at Barkingside Juvenile Court, facing six counts of attempted murder, arson with intent to endanger life, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Previously, another 16-year-old boy had also been charged with attempted murder and has been placed in a youth detention center. His court appearance at the Old Bailey is scheduled for October 6.

Additionally, two other 16-year-old boys and a 54-year-old man, who were arrested on suspicion of arson with the intention of endangering lives, have been released on bail.
