A sculpture representing a Greggs sausage roll is set to be revealed at Madame Tussauds wax museum.
The iconic venue announced that this pastry-enveloped meat roll will mark the inaugural food item showcased on its own merit.
This tribute elevates the snack to the status of a British cultural landmark, joining the ranks of luminaries like Shakespeare and David Attenborough.
Greggs reported that it sells a staggering one million of these rolls each day.
Jo Kinsey, the studio manager at the museum, leads a talented team of artists who are tasked with crafting and caring for the realistic figures.
She remarked that the Greggs sausage roll is “a symbol of British culture – we simply had to feature it in our cultural zone.”
Kinsey noted that the artists dedicated “countless” hours to meticulously recreating the cherished menu item.
“We approached this project with the utmost seriousness, just as we do with all our figures,” she explained.
“We are excited for guests to be amazed by the lifelike sausage roll – perfectly timed for National Sausage Roll Day.”
The sculpture will be open to the public starting on 5 June.
