At the Old Bailey, a jury has found five men and a boy guilty of the murder of 21-year-old drug dealer Janayo Lucima.

Lucima, who had previously served a prison sentence in 2021 for his involvement in the dismemberment of a musician, was shot once in the chest as he answered his front door in Kensington last year.

The incident, characterized in court as a “premeditated and coordinated execution” linked to a drug-related conflict, occurred when 22-year-old Khuder Al Kurdi tricked Lucima into stepping outside his residence in Barons Court, where the shooter, Mohamed Mansaray, was lying in wait.

Sentencing for the six defendants will occur at a later date.

All the convicted individuals have been placed in custody.

The jury was unable to reach a conclusion regarding two additional defendants, a man and a minor, and a retrial is scheduled for 2026.

Lucima had been released from prison in March 2023 after serving time for obstructing justice in relation to the death of jazz trumpeter William Algar.

Algar, 53, was murdered at his home in Barnes, south-west London, during a confrontation with a drug-dealing gangster over financial issues.

Lucima had confessed to managing a drug operation from Algar’s residence and was convicted of obstructing justice by purchasing bleach, dish soap, clothing, and black garbage bags to eliminate evidence at the crime scene.

As of now, no one has been held responsible for Algar’s murder.

The planned execution of Lucima was orchestrated by Al Kurdi, a nearby resident, and executed by Mansaray.

The other individuals involved acted as “support, backup, and encouragement.”

In an effort to evade arrest, five of the six fled to various locations, including Somalia, Libya, Scotland, Spain, and Morocco, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The police tracked them down and either went to arrest them, organized extraditions, or caught them returning to the UK.
