A young gorilla at London Zoo has kicked off the Halloween celebrations early by indulging in a “spooky” pumpkin.

Venus, who is one year and eight months old, was given carved pumpkins filled with pulses along with the other western lowland gorillas.

While the silverback gorilla Kiburi got the first pick of the pumpkins, baby Venus displayed a “great enterprising spirit,” as described by the zoo, and eagerly dug into her Halloween treats with her mother Effie overseeing her.

Daniel Simmonds, the zoological operations manager at London Zoo, mentioned, “We wanted to ensure that the animals could partake in the festivities.”

Zookeepers characterized Venus as a playful and inquisitive baby who is constantly engaged in activities. She has a half-sister named Juno, who also relished the Halloween goodies, according to the staff.

Mr. Simmonds also remarked, “Gorillas are inherently curious, and they truly enjoyed uncovering their delightful surprises in the shape of spooky pumpkins.”

The zoo is set to host its Boo at the Zoo event from October 25 to November 2, featuring a silent disco, informative animal talks, and various craft activities.
