The Metropolitan Police have identified the man who was fatally shot in north-west London as Simon Whyte.

Emergency services were dispatched to West End Close in Stonebridge, Brent, at 21:35 GMT on Friday following reports of the shooting. Despite attempts by both police and the London Ambulance Service, the 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the location.

A murder investigation has commenced, though no arrests have been made thus far, according to the police statement.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John expressed, “Our condolences go out to Simon’s family and friends during this incredibly challenging time. Investigations are already in progress, with my team diligently working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.”

He also mentioned that the police presence in the area has been heightened and urged anyone with information to reach out to the police via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

“We are particularly interested in speaking with the large group of individuals who were gathered in the vicinity when the event occurred,” he added.
