Filming Begins for Shurale: A Tale of Friendship and Danger in Tatar Mythology

The film company Bosfor Pictures has announced the commencement of filming for the feature-length movie titled “Shurale“, which is based on the eponymous spirit from Tatar mythology, known for being both a friend and a foe to humans.

“Shurale” will follow the story of a young woman searching for her missing younger brother. Her quest leads her back to her native village, where she is confronted with the secrets of the past.

The film will be directed by Alina Nasibullina, recognized for her work on “How Vityok Chesnok Took Lyokha Shtyr to the Disabled House” and the music video for the Tatar song “Pyyala” by the duet “Aigel.” Nasibullina will also take on the lead role, with the cast including Maxim Matveev, Gennady Blinov, Sergey Gilyov, Ruzil Minekaev, a star from “Slovo Patsana,” and rapper Husky.
