The head coach of the Edmonton Oilers, Chris Noblock, announced that Russian forward Vasily Podkolzin will be rejoining the team ahead of their final preseason match against the Vancouver Canucks on October 4. This information was reported by Sportsnet.

Noblock also mentioned that he anticipates the winger will begin preseason training on Friday.

On September 25, 2025, Podkolzin left the team’s facilities to return to Russia following the passing of his father.

During the previous season, which was the first for the 24-year-old Podkolzin with Edmonton, he accumulated 24 points (8 goals, 16 assists) in 82 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he appeared in 22 matches, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.
