Determined to Compete: Russian Skiers Push for Olympic Participation

Norwegian journalist Jan Petter Saltvedt stated that leaders in Russian cross-country skiing are tirelessly working to secure participation in the 2026 Olympic Games.

“The Russians are operating behind the scenes to advance certain athletes for the Olympics in February next year. Their approach is more diplomatic and constructive than it has been in the past. I don’t believe they will give up until after the first qualifying race in Val di Fiemme,” Saltvedt’s words were reported by TV2.

The 25th Winter Olympics will take place in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo from February 6 to 22, 2026. Currently, the group led by Russia’s senior cross-country skiing coach Yuri Borodavko is training in Italy.
