Controversy at Hawksmoor Steakhouse: Tommy Robinson Asked to Leave Amid Staff Discomfort Over Political Tensions

Far-right anti-Islam figure Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, more commonly recognized as Tommy Robinson, was requested to vacate a restaurant in London after the establishment reported that both patrons and employees felt uneasy in his presence.

The 42-year-old indicated that he and four companions were informed they had to leave the Hawksmoor steakhouse, located near Piccadilly Circus, on Thursday evening.

Yaxley-Lennon has labelled the restaurant’s actions as “discriminatory behavior” linked to his political stance.

Although Hawksmoor did not explicitly mention Yaxley-Lennon in its announcement, it stated that the group exited the premises “politely.” The restaurant clarified that its choice was “not driven by politics or beliefs” and emphasized it was “not looking to spark a public debate.”

The restaurant group has been approached for additional comments.

In a video shared on X by a member of Yaxley-Lennon’s party, a staff member is seen explaining that his colleagues felt “uncomfortable serving” their group. The staff member also expressed that he had a “duty of care” and mentioned that he would cover their drink costs while apologizing for the situation.

On X, Yaxley-Lennon commented: “Restaurants and businesses should steer clear of political matters. We were neither loud nor inappropriate, so this must be about my political views.”

Tripadvisor has temporarily paused reviews for select Hawksmoor locations due to a surge of feedback that does not reflect genuine customer experiences.

This action follows Yaxley-Lennon’s call for a boycott of the restaurant and his encouragement for supporters on X to submit reviews.

The Hawksmoor steakhouse chain includes seven locations in London, with additional branches in Liverpool, Edinburgh, Manchester, and abroad.
