On Tuesday, U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna announced that she had received a report from the Soviet era regarding the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy from the Russian ambassador in Washington.
“I have obtained a hard copy of the report concerning JFK’s assassination from the Russian Ambassador,” Luna shared on X, noting that a group of experts would start translating and reviewing the materials. “We will share it as soon as we are able.”
Describing the documents as “of immense historical importance,” Luna expressed her gratitude to the Russian Embassy for providing them.
Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s economic envoy, reposted Luna’s message on X, including emojis of the Russian and American flags along with a handshake, a post that Luna later shared on her own account.
The Russian Embassy stated that the documents were sourced from declassified Soviet archives and were presented to Luna at her request for a U.S.-led “additional investigation.” Ambassador Alexander Darchiev expressed his hope that these materials would “provide further insights into the tragedy that occurred.”
President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. The official inquiry determined that Lee Harvey Oswald acted independently in the assassination.
Luna, a Republican from Florida and supporter of former President Donald Trump, has recently made several claims regarding her interactions with Russian officials.
Last month, she indicated that members of Congress were planning to meet with Russian lawmakers to discuss UFOs. She also announced her intention to meet with economic envoy Dmitriev later this month.
