Chervichenko: Locomotiv Played Well Against Akron, But Victory Eluded Them

The former president of Moscow’s Spartak, Andrei Chervichenko, commented on the outcome of the 13th round match in the Mir RPL between Akron and Lokomotiv, which ended in a 1:1 draw.

“Akron is a solid team. They are a cohesive unit and have played together for a considerable amount of time. When they launched their attacks, they had some really tall players up front. They charged towards Lokomotiv’s defenders, and it was clear they had an advantage in height and strength. It’s no surprise that Lokomotiv found it challenging.

Lokomotiv had three or four clear opportunities that they failed to capitalize on. Take Komlichenko’s shot, for example; he tried to be clever instead of simply placing the ball into the far corner. Lokomotiv played reasonably well, but winning away from home is not always easy. This time, it didn’t happen. Overall, Lokomotiv looked impressive. Remember Batrakov’s shot? He just hit it straight at the goalkeeper. If he had aimed a bit to the left or right, it would have definitely gone in. So, there’s nothing too critical to say about Lokomotiv. Sometimes, it just doesn’t go your way,” Chervichenko stated in an interview with Championship correspondent Ilya Nikulnikov.
