Brick Lane in East London has been transformed with a vibrant yellow hue to celebrate the debut of the new film, Wicked: For Good.
This artistic project is the result of a partnership among Universal UK, the Truman Brewery, and Tower Hamlets Council.
A group of six artists, including Taya De La Cruz, James Cochran (known as Jimmy C), Tom Blackford, Mr Cenz, Sophie Mess, and Nicolas Dixon, were invited to create Wicked-inspired murals along the street.
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Cenz shared his enthusiasm for Wicked, mentioning how he enjoyed watching it with his daughters. He remarked on the tight timeframe, stating, “I had to complete it in two days, and the cold weather certainly posed a challenge.”
India Young, the events operations manager at Truman Brewery, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “There’s no other place like Brick Lane. At Truman Brewery, which embodies East London’s spirit of creativity and culture, imagination and individuality shine brightly. We’re delighted to bring Yellow Brick Lane to life with an ‘oz-mazing’ makeover of our cherished venue in partnership with Wicked: For Good.”
