The 12th-ranked player in the world, American Ben Shelton, shared his thoughts on the men’s singles final at the 2025 French Open between world number one Jannik Sinner and second-ranked Carlos Alcaraz.
“Honestly, I’m not the type of guy who watches a tournament after being eliminated. I usually turn to another sport or don’t watch anything at all. I tuned into the match when the score was 6-5 in the fifth set and decided to see how the tiebreak would unfold. I anticipated it would be a rollercoaster. Sinner intensified the pressure, and then Alcaraz responded in kind, eventually creating match points for himself. It made sense to keep the game at the baseline since serving wasn’t the decisive factor. Every point played was incredible. For me, that tiebreak was just insane. The first six or seven rallies were all Alcaraz’s, and it was one of the calmest moments I’ve witnessed in tennis,” Shelton remarked in an interview with Tennis Channel.
To recap, the men’s singles final at the 2025 French Open featured Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz facing Italian Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz emerged victorious with a scoreline of 4-6, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (10-2).
