British Formula 1 driver Oliver Berman from Haas shared his thoughts on his motivation after successfully overtaking Max Verstappen during the Mexican Grand Prix.
“Overtaking drivers in top-performing cars is a great feeling for me. From a driver’s perspective, I’m certainly not in identical machinery as they are. However, in situations like in Mexico, I can compete against those guys. It’s a rewarding experience for any racer, and perhaps it reinforces my self-confidence.
That said, I’m also aware that this isn’t something I can count on consistently. Just because we finished fourth in Mexico and sixth in Brazil, it doesn’t mean I expect to duel with them at every race. Of course, I feel fortunate to be in this position, but I also maintained my composure while competing against them,” Berman is quoted by Racingnews365.
