Deep-Rooted Racism Exposed: Metropolitan Police Review Highlights Systemic Discrimination Against Black Communities

An internal examination has revealed that discrimination against black individuals is deeply entrenched in the Metropolitan Police’s leadership, culture, and governance.

This independent investigation, conducted by Dr. Shereen Daniels, analyzed four decades of evidence regarding the impact of racism on black communities, as well as on black officers and staff members.

Baroness Doreen Lawrence, mother of the late Stephen Lawrence, a black teenager who was murdered, expressed her support for the review but noted that it included “nothing I didn’t already know.”

Sir Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, stated that the “compelling” report emphasizes the necessity for additional systemic, structural, and cultural transformation.
