Kremlin Backs Trumps 20-Point Plan for Gaza Peace Efforts

On Tuesday, the Kremlin expressed its support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point initiative aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza, joining other nations in this endorsement.

“Russia consistently endorses and appreciates any initiative by President Trump that seeks to put an end to this ongoing tragedy,” said Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for the Kremlin, during a routine briefing with reporters.

“We certainly hope this plan will be executed and contribute to achieving a peaceful resolution in the Middle East,” Peskov further commented.

Trump’s proposal advocates for a ceasefire, the release of hostages by Hamas within a time frame of 72 hours, the disarmament of Hamas, and a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. This would be succeeded by a transitional authority led by Trump himself post-conflict.

The agreement stipulates that Hamas members would be excluded from future government roles, though those who were amenable to “peaceful coexistence” would receive amnesty.

Peskov clarified that Russia is not involved in the U.S. ceasefire plan.

Major Arab and Muslim nations, including mediators Egypt and Qatar, praised the genuine efforts reflected in the agreement following their discussions with Trump last week. The Palestinian Authority recognized Trump’s “genuine and determined efforts.”

Washington’s European allies quickly expressed their backing, with leaders from Britain, France, Germany, and Italy strongly supporting the initiative, and China also indicated its approval.

Russia maintains active relations with both Israeli and Palestinian authorities, as well as with Hamas, which Moscow does not classify as a terrorist organization.

President Vladimir Putin has consistently advocated for the creation of a Palestinian state as a sustainable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
