Suspicion Turns to Murder: Body of Missing Man Discovered in Abandoned Building in South-East London

A man has been accused of murder following the discovery of a body belonging to a missing individual in an abandoned building in south-east London.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers conducting a search at a location on Brockley Road in Lewisham on September 19 found the remains of Junior Ryan Coleman. The 34-year-old had been declared missing on August 20.

An autopsy revealed that he had died from blunt force injuries to the head, prompting a murder investigation to be initiated.

Daniel Watkis, 39, residing on Glenarm Road in Hackney, was charged on Friday and made his first court appearance the same day at Bromley Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded in custody, as reported by the Met.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Townsend, who is overseeing the investigation, stated: “Our thoughts are with Junior’s family and friends during this challenging time.

“My team is working diligently to uncover the full details surrounding Junior’s disappearance and subsequent death.

“We’re asking anyone who knew Junior to step forward, particularly if you saw him over the summer months.”

Mr. Watkis is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on October 24.
