Officials appointed by the Kremlin in annexed Crimea have accused Ukraine of conducting a nighttime drone assault that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injured over a dozen others. Simultaneously, authorities from southeastern Ukraine reported that Russian airstrikes claimed the lives of at least three people.
Sergei Akysyonov, the head of the annexed region, noted that a spa resort and a school in the coastal town of Foros sustained damage due to the attack. In a social media update on Sunday night, he confirmed that three people lost their lives and 16 were hurt as a result.
Akysyonov mentioned that remnants of the drones fell close to Yalta, igniting dry grass in the vicinity.
In an unusual statement acknowledging the loss of civilian lives, Russia’s Defense Ministry referred to the drone assault as a “terrorist attack.”
On the other hand, Ukraine reported early Monday that overnight Russian airstrikes in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia resulted in three fatalities and two injuries.
Regional officials in Zaporizhzhia indicated that Russian forces “dropped at least five” bombs on the city.
