Galimov Responds to Busches Praise for Impressive Debut with Avangard

Forward of “Avangard,” Ansel Galimov, commented on the praise he received from the head coach of the “Hawks,” Guy Boucher, regarding his impressive debut with the Omsk club.

– Guy Boucher mentioned in the press conference that he was quite impressed with your first game for “Avangard” under his guidance. Is it nice to hear such words about yourself?
– I didn’t hear it myself because I wasn’t at the press conference.

– Wait, but he must have spoken about it in the locker room, right?
– I don’t understand English, so the guys haven’t translated it for me yet. Just kidding! He did come up to me and said he sees great potential in me, understands what I’m capable of, and the value I can bring to the team. He hopes I’ll keep working hard, doing what I do best, and maintain my performance level. It’s not enough to start well; I need to keep it up moving forward.

– Boucher noted that the playing system of “Avangard” is complex and not all players grasp it fully. However, you managed to understand it in just two days. Was it indeed challenging to learn Guy’s tactics?
– I don’t want to brag about myself; I had only been in Omsk for two days prior to that. But those were productive two days. I watched a lot of videos, and the coaching staff worked closely with me, we focused on tactical elements, so I felt prepared for the match.

However, there is still much work ahead, and the crucial matches lie before us. Winning against “Ak Bars” in Kazan was great, but it’s important to remember that victories aren’t what we need now. Our goal is to finish the last game of the season as winners. That is when we will truly celebrate, – Galimov shared in an interview with “Championat” correspondent Rustam Imamov.
