A memorial garden honoring Freddie Mercury is set to be inaugurated later today in west London.

The unveiling will be conducted by Queen’s lead guitarist, Sir Brian May, alongside Kashmira Bulsara, the sister of the iconic singer. This green space, located in Feltham, has been established as part of a local redevelopment initiative.

Situated in Feltham Green, the area features a Green Eco Cabin designed to serve as a community hub.

Shantanu Rajawat, the leader of Hounslow Council, remarked, “The Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden is a befitting homage to one of Feltham’s most renowned residents, and the Eco Cabin exemplifies our commitment to sustainable, community-driven redevelopment that creates a lasting impact.”

The cabin will act as a base for the Friends of Feltham Green, facilitating a variety of activities such as gardening workshops, after-school clubs, exhibitions, and community gatherings.

Funding for this project has come from Hounslow Council’s Thriving Communities Fund, the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund, and A2Dominion.

Notably, the garden features Freddie Mercury roses—hybrids named in his honor—planted alongside a Sakura cherry tree acquired through crowdfunding efforts by 185 of Queen’s fans from Japan.

Angela Parton, chair of the Friends of Feltham Green, expressed her enthusiasm, stating that the new cabin and memorial garden will provide a “welcoming space” that has the potential to “radiate positive vibes” throughout the community.
