Eight individuals are facing charges following unrest that erupted during protests in central London over the weekend.

An estimated 110,000 to 150,000 participants gathered for the Unite the Kingdom rally led by right-wing figure Tommy Robinson on Saturday, while about 5,000 took part in a counter-demonstration focused on anti-racism.

Initially, the Metropolitan Police reported 25 arrests for various offenses related to what they termed “entirely unacceptable” violence, but this figure was later adjusted to 24 on Sunday.

The charges against the eight individuals include assault and violations of public order.

The police have also released photographs of 11 individuals that they are seeking to identify in connection with the disturbances.

To manage the event, 1,000 officers were deployed, with an additional 500 brought in from neighboring forces such as Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Devon and Cornwall.

Besides the charges, one person received a caution, while 11 others were released on bail pending further investigation.

Among those detained, three were women and the remainder were men, according to the police.
