From Ball Boy to Basketball Star: Luka Dončić Shares His Journey

A 26-year-old Slovenian basketball star of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, **Luka Dončić**, shared in a podcast with four-time champion **LeBron James** and Hall of Famer **Steve Nash** how he became a basketball player.

“As for me, I wasn’t particularly good at any other sport. Except for soccer, I was… not as great a player as you, Steve. But I stayed active in various sports. The main ones were tennis, soccer, and basketball. I also played volleyball… It was just fun and interesting for me. Then I would go outside to play, you know? For instance, after school, I would always head to the outdoor court.

However, over time, influenced by my father, I shifted my focus to basketball. I often attended his games… Eventually, I became a ball boy. I frequently took on that role during EuroLeague games. I was a ball boy for Olimpija (Ljubljana), and that’s how I used my time to simply practice basketball. We were allowed to work with the ball before the game, during breaks, and after the game; I just kept shooting at the hoop,” Dončić recounted, as reported by Basket News.
